Joe Corsaro is the founder and Senior Managing Partner of Corsaro & Associates Co., LPA. He has over 30 years of experience in business and tax planning for closely held companies and high-net-worth individuals. As the head of the firm, Joe oversees and participates in all areas of its practice, including business and tax planning for corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies; family wealth transfer and business succession planning; estate planning; asset protection planning; qualified and non-qualified retirement plans; executive compensation planning; employee fringe benefits; civil litigation; and taxable and tax-free acquisitions, dispositions and mergers. Additionally, Joe represents clients in IRS controversies, audits and appeals.
In 2004, Joe received the Ohio State Bar Association’s designation as a “Certified Federal Tax Law Specialist.” This designation has been attained by only a handful of lawyers in Northeastern Ohio. To achieve such recognition, a qualified candidate must demonstrate significant involvement in their area of specialty, fulfill ongoing education requirements, receive favorable evaluations from other attorneys and judges familiar with their work and successfully pass a written examination in their specialty field.
Joe was first named to the Ohio Super Lawyers® list in 2008 and has stayed on it for many years. The selection process for Super Lawyers involves peer nominations, a blue-ribbon panel review and independent candidate research. The Super Lawyers list is published annually in Cleveland Magazine and Super Lawyers Magazine.
In 2019, Joe was inducted into the Cleveland-Marshall School of Law Hall of Fame. The CSU C|M|LAW Hall of Fame was established to recognize the outstanding contributions to the success and prestige of the law school made by distinguished alumni, faculty, staff, friends and community leaders.
Joe graduated magna cum laude with high honors in English from the Virginia Military Institute. He earned his law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where he graduated cum laude. In law school, he focused on tax law, including individual taxation, corporate and advanced corporate taxation, partnership taxation and estate and gift taxation.
Joe is licensed to practice in all Ohio courts, the U.S. Federal Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the U.S. Tax Court and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association. He has presented seminars on various tax and business law topics for organizations such as the National Business Institute, Lorman Education Services and the Ohio Society of CPAs.
Joe supports many local foundations and charities, including the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Playhouse, Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland Zoological Society. He also backs Cleveland sports teams, holding season tickets for the Guardians, Browns and Cavaliers. He and his wife, Susan, reside in downtown Cleveland.
